
A research team from M.G. College, Thiruvananthapuram has made an important contribution to forensic science. Their study shows that DNA can be detected from fingerprints, which can greatly help criminal investigations.
Traditionally, fingerprints were used only to identify individuals based on their unique patterns. However, this research proves that fingerprints may also contain DNA traces, which can provide stronger scientific evidence.This discovery can improve the accuracy of forensic identification and help investigators solve crimes more effectively.
The research was conducted by a team of scientists including Dr. Sharmila Meleela, Dr. M. S. Jish, Dr. M. N. Vipinraj, Dr. E. M. Aneesh, Dr. Supriya R., and Shruthi Jayen.
This advancement gives a new direction to fingerprint science and may become very useful in modern forensic investigations.
